Employer contribution to provident fund – Benefit under PMRPY-Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana

PMRPY Scheme by Ministry of Labour was announced during 2016-17Budget with the primary purpose of promoting the generation of employment with Rs.1000Cr having been made. The PMRPY Scheme is operational from 9thAug, 2016. PMRPY scheme has been designed to incentivise employers for generation of new employment, where Government of India will be paying the full employer's contribution towards EPF & EPS both with effect from 01.04.2018 for a period of three years to the new employees and to the existing beneficiaries for the remaining period of three years through EPFO. Earlier this benefit was applicable for employer's contribution towards EPS only. This scheme has a dual benefit, where, on the one hand, the employer is incentivised for increasing the employment base of workers in the establishment, and on the other hand, a large number of workers will find jobs in such establishments. A direct benefit is that these workers will have access to social security benefits of the organized sector.

Eligibility of employee to enroll under PMRPY

  • The new employee compensation upto (and including) Rs 15,000 per month under semi-skilled and unskilled category.

  • New Employee must have a Aadhar linked UAN (Universal Account Number)  issued after 01.04.2016 and not have worked in any EPFO registered establishment in the past.

  • The terminal date for registration of beneficiary through establishment is 31-March-2019.

Eligibility of employer to avail PMRPY Scheme 

 a. The Establishment registered with Employee’s Provident fund Organization, EPFO should have a LIN (Labour Identification Number) allotted to them under  Shram Suvidha Portal.
b. The employer must have add new employees in his organization.
c. For new establishment coming into existence/getting registered with EPFO after 01st April, 2016, the employer can avail of PMRPY benefits for all new eligible employees.
